The Seven Principles of the Alabama Constitution Party

1. Life: For all human beings, from conception to natural death;
2. Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual
3. Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted;
4. Property: Each individual's right to own and steward personal property without government burden;
5. Constitution: and Bill of Rights interpreted according to the actual intent of the Founding Fathers;
6. States' Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government is reserved for the state and local jurisdictions;
7. American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances.

Will I Waste My Vote?

In 1996, millions of conservatives did not vote because they did not care for either of the major candidates. Therefore, the conservative vote is already split three ways between the major parties and those who will not vote for a liberal or a moderate. Also, the fact is, third parties draw votes from both major parties.

* A person's vote is the currency of his virtue. If he gives his vote to that which he does not believe, his vote is truly wasted.
* A vote for the lesser of two evils, will still yield evil. The major parties offer a choice between driving our country over the cliff to ruin at 50 miles per hour or 70 miles per hour. For example, Republican Supreme Court appointees gave the country Roe v. Wade and other liberal rulings. Future appointments promise to be no better. If the fear of voting third party is maintained, there will never be hope for change or a choice besides the lesser of two evils.
* The United States of America was not founded upon compromise and rationalism. It was founded upon the belief that people are accountable to God for the principles that they stand for and the people that they elevate to high office. As George Washington said at the 1787 Constitutional Convention,
"If to please the people we offer what we ourselves disapprove, how can we afterward defend our work? Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair. The event is in the hand of God."
* More concern with winning and maintaining power than in standing by principle has resulted in compromise by those in office and by those electing them. It is time to do what is right and leave the results to God.

What is the Difference Between the Parties?

* The bottom line is a party's philosophy of what the role of government should be. The two major parties legislate as if government is God and can solve all problems. This results in a more powerful, centralized government and a people who become more dependent on government and less dependent on themselves and God. The Libertarian and Reform parties hold man as sovereign authority believing man can solve the problems himself. The Alabama Constitution Party is the only party that acknowledges the sovereignty of God and wants to return our country to the Constitution which is based on biblical principles Government's role is to secure the rights of the people rather than control and provide for people.

*
The Alabama Constitution Party affirms the original Constitutional framework of federalism (sovereign states) and separation of powers, calling for the repeal of all laws and abolition of all programs not expressly authorized by Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution. Other parties may call for a smaller government but are not committed to reducing government to its constitutional boundaries.

* The Alabama Constitution Party will hold candidates elected to office accountable to the platform. Other parties allow candidates to campaign on their platform but then act contrary to the platform and suffer no consequences.

* The Alabama Constitution Party has not taken, nor will ever take funds from the tax-paying public to support its activities, believing that action to be unconstitutional. Others claim to advocate campaign finance reform yet they take money from taxpayers who may not agree with their platform.

* The Alabama Constitution Party intends to entirely repeal the federal income tax and cut enough spending to operate the government without it. Others propose small tax reductions, a flat tax or a federal national sales tax. However, a different kind of tax will not yield a significant reduction in taxes, only a different method of robbery.

Why Not Reform the GOP Instead of Building a New Party?

The GOP Leadership is Committed to "Moderation" Not Reformation!

* Those who desire reform are not in leadership positions. The current leadership fills powerful committee chair positions with "moderates". Therefore, conservatives hit a "glass ceiling" when trying to rise to leadership.

* The current leadership grants endorsements and financial support to "moderate" candidates, ignoring and working against Republican conservative candidates supported by grassroots conservative field works.

* The GOP is unwilling to nominate a constitutional conservative for President. This key position is responsible for many policy decisions and the appointments of numerous other influential positions.

The GOP Has No Intentions to Restore Constitutional Government!

* Currently, most federal departments, agencies and regulatory authorities operate unconstitutionally. Although the Republican Platform opposes one or more of these entities at different times, without the principle of reducing the federal government to its constitutional boundaries, overall support is for an unconstitutional government.

* Hundreds of government programs exist to help politicians reward and strengthen their supporters. With a few notable exceptions, Republican office holders are no different than any of the others. Politicians force citizens (by taxation) to support selected institutions and organizations which in turn support the politicians. This means hundreds of billions of dollars of vote buying and contributor kickbacks. Constitutional government would greatly reduce the opportunities for political corruption.

Compromise is Standard Operating Procedure!

* GOP politicians are not held responsible for voting contrary to the Platform. In 1996, the presidential nominee Robert Dole stated that he hadn't ever read the platform!

* With the "big tent" philosophy, the GOP has become a house divided against itself. There is compromise even before negotiations with those they call "liberals". The Party is composed of people on both sides of definitive issues such as abortion, special rights for homosexuals and entitlements for big corporations. Both the Republican led Congress and the Republican presidencies have been a net loss for the conservative cause of constitutional government.

"History is important.  Why?  History is nothing less than the outworking of God's eternal decree in time.  History has a definite beginning and a definite ending.  All history is God's history.  If you want to understand the issues of today, you must grasp the issues of yesterday.  Here in America the South has always contended for righteousness and truth, why?  Why is the South known as the Bible belt?  The principles for which the South contended in 1776 and in 1861 are the same principles that are being contended for today."   ~Pastor John Weaver, History and Southern Heritage, DominionMinistry.com
